Helen's Asian Kitchen created this innovative 11inch Steaming Ring to allow a 10 inch bamboo steamer to be used directly on an uncovered stock pot or Dutch oven instead of in a wok. It turns any large sauce pan or stock pot into a steamer. This frees up your wok or stir fry pan for cooking so you can stir-fry and steam simultaneously.

A piece of good device but need further improvement Feb 15, 2008

This steamer ring enables the 10" steamer to be used on most of the deep sauce/soup pan. It works well for most types of cooking (such as vegetables, fish, dumplings, ...). It is a good piece of tool but further improvement is suggesed here. a) It is stated to be used for 10" steamer set but the inner ring size is only 7". To maximize the power of the steam, 8.5" or 9" inner right size is suggested; b) It will be desirable to create a 1/2 inch deep, 10" shoulder ring so the steamer set can sit tight on the ring; c) It will also be preferrable to increase the outter ring size for another inch so that the wet towel can be used to seal the bottom of the steamer set to prevent steam from escaping.

My wife wanted a bamboo steamer to use in trying out some new Asian recipes - but we didn't have a wok. This adapter ring allows the use of a stock pot or large sauce pan rather than a wok. For those that have a wok too, this method frees up the wok for other uses and eliminates the need for boiling water in the wok and possibly damaging its built-up 'seasoning'. A stock pot will hold more water than a wok so you'll have to refill less often too. I'm just surprised that this essential isn't included with all bamboo steamers.....

If you don't have this item, you aren't steaming correctly. Works great on a 9 inch pan too.

This fits perfectly on my pot when I'm using my bamboo steamer, so I could use my wok to cook other things at the same time. Makes preparing meals a lot faster!
